How the pandemic set back female scientists
A cover illustration for The BMJ, on how the pandemic disproportionately affected female scientists, juggling research careers with the sudden extra weight of childcare and domestic responsibilities. I wanted the image to convey that quiet overload, in contrast with men’s largely unhindered career progression through the same period.
